Brigadier General Ndjonkep Meyomhy Frederic has assumed his role as the Inspector General of the Armed Forces at the Ministry of Defence in a ceremony held at the
Ministry's premises.
The senior military official, aged 64, was appointed by decree No. 2024/428 on October 22, 2024. He replaces the late Vice-Admiral N'GOUAH N'GALLY Guillaume in this crucial position.
During the commissioning event on Friday, November 29, 2024, Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Joseph Beti Assomo, charged General Ndjonkep with acquainting himself with the provisions of the 2001 decree that reorganized the ministry.
This familiarity is crucial for him to effectively carry out the tasks entrusted to him by the Head of State, President Paul Biya.
The ceremony was attended by distinguished personalities, including Secretary of State to the Gendarmerie Yves Galax Etoga, Secretary of State to the Minister of Defence in charge of Ex-Servicemen and War Victims Koumpa Issa, and other high-ranking military officials led by Lieutenant-General Rene Claude Meka, the Chief of
Defence Staff.
Minister Beti Assomo emphasized the importance of General Ndjonkep's appointment in enhancing the efficiency of the defense and security apparatus to
address the evolving security challenges across the country. He praised the General's merit, dedication, and professional track record, highlighting the significance of the trust placed in him by the High Command.
In his address, the Minister urged General Ndjonkep to fully grasp the scope of his new responsibilities and commit himself to their successful fulfillment.
He stressed the need for the General to lead with dynamism, expertise, and experience to motivate his team, uphold ethical standards, and ensure diligence in handling tasks.
General Ndjonkep, a graduate of the Combined Services Military Academy (EMIA) in the class of 1986, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Over his 38-year career, he has held various key positions and received several decorations in the
Cameroonian National Order of Merit and the National Order of Valour.
His extensive training and leadership roles position him well to carry out the delicate and wide-ranging missions entrusted to him as the Inspector General of the Armed Forces.
The Minister paid tribute to the late Vice-Admiral N'GOUAH N'GALLY Guillaume for his dedicated service over 63 years and expressed confidence in General Ndjonkep's ability to uphold the responsibilities of his new office with professionalism and dedication.
