Sah Terence Animbom, Camasej Bamenda President, Upbeat to turn the tides.
In a remarkable display of leadership and vision, Sah Terence Animbom, President of CAMASEJ Bamenda, has marked a significant milestone – 60 days in office. Since assuming the presidency on January 24, 2025, Animbom has spearheaded a transformative agenda, ushering in a new era of innovation, collaboration, and growth for the Cameroon Association of English Speaking Journalists (CAMASEJ) Bamenda chapter.
The association has achieved a series of groundbreaking milestones under Animbom's leadership. For the first time in its history, CAMASEJ Bamenda has issued press cards with QR codes linking to the association's website. This website, also a first, provides a portfolio for each member, showcasing their work and achievements. This innovative approach has not only enhanced the association's visibility but also provided members with a valuable tool to promote their work.
In addition to these technological advancements, Animbom's administration has prioritized capacity building and training. The association has benefitted from a leadership training organized by RADA exclusively for Camasej Bamenda executive members. It was used to inculcate leadership principles and values. Furthermore, CAMASEJ Bamenda has conducted solutions journalism training, equipping 30 members with skills to produce high-quality, solution-focused stories.

Strategic partnerships have also been a key focus area for the association. CAMASEJ Bamenda has forged a partnership with RADA (Reconciliation and Development Association) to enhance training opportunities and promote reconciliation and development. This collaboration has already yielded positive results, with 13 CAMASEJ members benefitting from a training on front-of-package labeling in Yaounde.

To incentivize excellence and promote quality journalism, CAMASEJ Bamenda has launched the Solutions Journalism Reporting Awards. The association will award laptops and cash prizes to winners, recognizing their outstanding contributions to solutions journalism. Moreover, Minister Felix Mbayu has sponsored the Monica Chinju Educational Reporting Award, which aims to recognize excellence in educational reporting.
As CAMASEJ Bamenda continues to break new ground under Animbom's leadership, the association is poised to launch its paid publication news project, Abakwa by Camasej Bamenda. This initiative aims to promote responsible and professional journalism, providing a platform for members to produce stories that meet international standards. The project's name, Abakwaby Camasej, represents resilience, courage, justice, and every value that talks about steadfastness – values that are deeply ingrained in the profession of journalism.

Kemafru Paul Ngwa, CAMASEJ Bamenda's Financial Secretary, echoed Animbom's sentiments, highlighting the association's remarkable growth and achievements.
"We were voted into office on Friday, January 24, 2025, to give an evaluation of our 60 days in office. I would say that it has been amazing because, for the very first time in history, we have recorded 82 members as of now, slightly over 12 new members who have expressed intentions to be members of the Association. This has been a milestone. It has never been recorded before," the financial secretary said.
With a strong foundation laid in the first 60 days, Sah Terence Animbom and his team, including Kemafru Paul Ngwa, are committed to driving growth, innovation, and excellence within CAMASEJ Bamenda. As the association looks to the future, one thing is clear – the next chapter in CAMASEJ Bamenda's history promises to be exciting, transformative, and truly remarkable.
