Bamenda, April 5, 2025 - A gruesome discovery was made in Chomba Village, in the outskirts of Bamenda II Subdivision, where multiple corpses were found dumped in an uncompleted sewage dugout behind America Wonder's compound. Among the victims was Nji Fidelis, who was kidnapped by Ambazonia fighters on March 22, 2025.
The circumstances surrounding the murders suggest a brutal and calculated act, with the victims being murdered and dumped in the sewage dugout. Authorities have yet to confirm the exact number of casualties and the specifics of the investigation.
Residents attribute the violence to the ongoing issue of sand quarrying in the area, which has been a source of conflict. Despite the Divisional Officer of Bamenda II's ban on quarries, the ban has been openly disregarded, exacerbating tensions.
The population of Chomba has called for the establishment of a military base to ensure their protection and save lives. This request comes amid growing concerns about safety and security in the area.
America Wonder's compound, where the crime scene is located, belongs to Wilfred Atanga, whose family was driven out of Chomba by Ambazonia fighters in 2019. This incident highlights the persistent insecurity and instability in the region.
