Luc René Bell was a renowned Cameroonian politician and administrator who passed away on April 12, 2025, at 77. Born in Makak, Bell's impressive career spanned multiple roles.

Bell served as Governor of the North-West and West regions, showcasing his administrative expertise. He also held the position of Delegate General of National Security from 1997 to 2000, overseeing national security. Additionally, Bell was elected as a Senator in 2013 and remained a Senate member until his passing. He was a member of the Central Committee of the Rassemblement Démocratique du Peuple Camerounais (RDPC).

Bell's academic journey began with a baccalaureate degree in 1970. He then attended the École Nationale Supérieure de Police, becoming an officer in 1971, and later studied civil administration at ENAM, graduating in 1980. Beyond his official roles, Bell was a respected superior chief of Bomabom in the Bondjock arrondissement and held leadership positions in traditional chief associations.
