The Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC) has ushered in a new era with the induction of Rt Rev Miki Hans Abia as its 7th Moderator. Abia, who took over from Very Rev Fonki Samuel, has pledged to steer the church back to its core mission of witnessing and winning souls for Christ.

During his induction ceremony on March 16 in Buea, Abia emphasized the need for unconditional reconciliation within the church. He urged clergy and laity to accommodate one another despite their flaws, stressing that true equity means offering equal opportunities to all presbyters, departments, and institutions of the churc

Abia's five-year mandate is built on three pillars: strengthening the church and its institutions, edifying believers, and consolidating the achievements of the PCC. While promising continuity with his predecessor's vision, Abia assured Presbyterians that his leadership would bring new dynamism to the church.

The new Moderator also vowed to root out injustices that promote division within the PCC. "We must be intentional about justice and equity, shunning vices like favoritism, discrimination, and godfatherism," he said.

Abia's leadership team includes Rev Ayuk Solomon Eta, who was inducted as the 12th Synod Clerk of the PCC. Eta, a seasoned pastor and administrator, is expected to play a key role in implementing Abia's vision for the church.

As Abia begins his tenure, he faces the challenge of uniting a church that has been affected by conflicts and divisions. However, with his emphasis on reconciliation, justice, and equity, Presbyterians are hopeful that the church will experience a new era of growth and renewal under his leadership.
