Yaoundé, May 3, 2025 - His Lordship Bishop Michael MIABESUE Bibi of Buea Diocese has been elected to head the Commission for Social Communications, following the conclusion of the 50th Ordinary Plenary Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Cameroon.

The assembly, held from April 27 to May 3, 2025, at the National Episcopal Conference of Cameroon (NECC) headquarters in Mvolyé, was preceded by a pilgrimage to Marienberg, a national pilgrimage center, where over 5,000 Christians gathered for prayer vigils, Holy Masses, and catechesis.

They welcomed new Bishop of Yokadouma, Justin Georges EBENGUE, and re-elected Archbishop Andrew FUANYA NKEA as President of NECC, with Bishop Philippe Alain MBARGA as Vice-President.

The assembly addressed various issues, including the upcoming presidential and regional elections, urging Christians to persevere in prayer for peaceful elections. The Bishops also gave guidelines and recommendations for improving the functioning of various entities within the Church and urged prayerful support for the College of Cardinals as they prepare to elect a new Pope.
