Barrister Agbor Balla Urges Young Lawyers to be Architects of Justice

South West, Cameroon - Barrister Nkongho Felix Agbor, also known as "Agbor Balla," a renowned lawyer and human rights advocate delivered a keynote address to trainees of the Association of International Transparency (AIT) in the Fako Division, emphasizing the importance of ethics, knowledge, and innovation in the legal profession.

Barrister Agbor Balla, a seasoned international legal mind and President for the Centre of Human Rights and Democracy in Africa, urged the trainees to see themselves not just as lawyers, but as "legal engineers" who can shape the law to serve justice, equality, and dignity.

He emphasized the need for lawyers to be more than just courtroom litigators or office-based advisors, but architects of justice who can draft laws that uplift, design institutions that protect, and challenge frameworks that oppress.

The learned Barrister highlighted the importance of strategic litigation as a tool for social change, citing its potential to challenge unjust laws, set precedents, and hold powerful actors accountable. He encouraged the trainees to be bold, innovative, and relentless in their pursuit of justice, and to use their legal knowledge to mend what is broken.
