Yaoundé, Cameroon – On May 14, 2025, the Mont Febe Hotel in Yaoundé echoed vital discussions on misinformation and disinformation, especially in the context of national elections. As the moderator of this high-level panel was Barrister Nkongho Felix Agbor, known widely as Agbor Balla, a prominent human rights advocate and the President of the Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Africa (CHRDA).

This significant event, organized by the United Nations Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Central Africa (UNCHRD-CA), aimed to address the urgent need for both institutional and legal frameworks to combat the rising tide of misinformation during electoral processes in Cameroon.

Panelists collectively stressed the importance of enhancing legal safeguards and improving public education policies aimed at increasing awareness about the dangers of misinformation, particularly among voters.
