Nkongho Felix Agbor, also known as Agbor Balla, President of the Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Africa (CHRDA), has called on students to take an active role in promoting development, peace, and unity in their communities.
Speaking at the Nso All Students Union (NASU) General Assembly on May 9, 2025, Barrister Agbor Balla emphasized the importance of youth leadership in shaping the future of Cameroon.
According to Agbor Balla, development starts with the individual. "Innovate, create, lead," he urged the students. He encouraged them to take ownership of their development and to strive for excellence in their endeavors.
Agbor Balla also stressed the importance of unity, emphasizing that beyond tribal affiliations, Cameroonians are one. "Unity is our strength," he said, urging the students to promote unity and solidarity in their communities.
The CHRDA President and CEO further emphasized the importance of peace, noting that it is a choice that requires effort and commitment. "Peace is a choice, be ambassadors of nonviolence and justice," he said. He encouraged the students to promote peaceful resolution of conflicts and to stand up for justice and human rights.
Agbor Balla also highlighted the importance of intercultural dialogue, encouraging the students to learn, listen, and connect across cultures. "Dialogue builds bridges," he said, emphasizing that it is essential for promoting understanding and peaceful coexistence.
In his concluding remarks, the civic and human rights advocate urged the students to take an active role in leadership, emphasizing that they are the leaders of now, not just tomorrow. "You are not the leaders of tomorrow," he said. "You are the leaders of now. Build boldly. Unite. Speak peacefully. Lead with love."
