The President of the House of Chiefs, Southwest Regional Assembly, Dr. Chief Atem Ebako, has responded to a directive from the Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) for Fako, Viang Mekala, calling for the presence of traditional rulers at the upcoming Unity Day celebrations. While acknowledging the importance of their participation, Dr. Ebako took issue with the SDO's tone and language.

In a strongly worded letter, Dr. Chief Ebako expressed concern over the SDO's threat to discipline absent traditional rulers, describing it as "rude and callous." He argued that this approach undermines the dignity and divine honor of traditional rulers, not just in Fako Division but across the entire Southwest Region.

Dr. Ebako urged the SDO to refrain from being insolent and disrespectful to the institution of traditional rulers, emphasizing the need for mutual respect and understanding. Given the significance of the National Unity Day, he chose to appeal to the SDO's better judgment rather than demanding an apology.

This development highlights the delicate balance between traditional leadership and the administration. As the Unity Day celebrations approach, it remains to be seen how this issue will be resolved and what implications it may have for the relationship between traditional rulers and government officials in the Division.
