The Member of Parliament for Bafut-Tubah Constituency, Hon. Agho Oliver Bamenju, has donated FCFA 1 million to support the construction of a cultural hall in Bamenda. The Manjong hall, which will serve as a gathering place for the Bafut community in Bamenda will provide a space for cultural preservation, community organization, and developmental dialogue.

Hon. Agho Oliver made the donation during a courtesy visit to the proposed site of the cultural hall on Thursday, May 22, 2025. He emphasized the importance of the project, stating that it is unacceptable for the Bafut community in Bamenda not to have a structure where they can meet and discuss developmental issues.

The Bafut/Tubah MP promised to be an ambassador for the project, helping to raise funds to acquire the land and construct the hall. He also called on the Bafut people and development actors to put all hands on deck to ensure the project's success.

The donation was warmly received by Naamukong Fusi Henry, Vice President of the Bafut Development Manjong Bamenda, who expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for his generosity. "If you can start in this big way, then we are already in the right direction," he said.

This gesture is part of Hon. Agho Oliver's ongoing efforts to support development projects in his constituency. Since his election to Cameroon's parliament in 2020, he has been at the forefront of transforming lives and building common frontiers.

He has donated roofing sheets to families and households in Tubah Subdivision whose homes were destroyed due to the ongoing conflict, provided scholarships to orphans and vulnerable children, and supplied medical equipment to local hospitals.

Hon. Agho Oliver's commitment to inclusive development has also seen him empower widows, disadvantaged children, orphans, the elderly, and individuals with special needs. He has facilitated the integration of young people into socio-economic activities both within Cameroon and abroad.

The proposed cultural center is envisioned as a space for nurturing the Bafut identity and a platform for mobilizing developmental ideas. It aligns with Hon. Agho's longstanding development ethos, which prioritizes rebuilding lives and restoring dignity to conflict-affected communities.

As the fundraising campaign begins and community mobilization picks up momentum, the Bafut Cultural Center project may well become a blueprint for other communities striving to preserve culture, promote peace, and inspire hope in uncertain times.

It should be recalled that before this May 22, 2025 gesture, Hon Agho Oliver had taken active part at May 20 National Day celebrations in the Bafut where his presence reassured most militants of the healthy nature of the party in Bafut Subdivision.
