Buea, May 1, 2025 - As Cameroon celebrates Labour Day today, civic activist and President of the Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Africa (CHRADA) Nkongho Felix Agbor, also known as "Agbor Balla," has issued a powerful message to Cameroonian workers and their bosses.
In his message, Agbor Balla praised the strength, resilience, and commitment of Cameroonian workers, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to the nation's growth and development. He noted that workers from various sectors, including farmers, teachers, civil society workers, nurses, traders, builders, and drivers, are the backbone of the country's economy.
However, Agbor Balla also highlighted the challenges faced by workers, including economic difficulties, limited opportunities, and poor working conditions. He emphasized the need for fair wages, decent working conditions, social protection, and respect for workers' rights.
The activist called on leaders at all levels to prioritize the dignity of labour and empower the workforce with the tools to thrive. He urged Cameroonians to work together to create a future where every worker is valued, every youth has a chance, and every effort is rewarded.
"Your voice matters. Your work matters. You matter," Agbor Balla said, concluding his message with a call to action for workers to unite, empower, and shape the future of Cameroon.
As the country celebrates Labour Day, Agbor Balla's message serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting workers' rights and promoting their welfare.
