Yaoundé, May 1, 2025 - As Cameroon celebrates Labour Day, Dr. Fokam Joseph, Permanent Secretary of the National AIDS Control Committee, has issued a message to workers across the country, urging them to prioritize their health for greater productivity and development.

In his message, Dr. Fokam acknowledged the tireless efforts and dedication of workers, noting that their sweat and toil build the foundation of the economy, drive innovation, and propel progress. He wished workers a happy Labour Day and emphasized the importance of knowing one's HIV status as a crucial step towards staying healthy.

"Knowing your HIV status is an opportunity to stay healthy by adopting measures to preserve your seronegativity or by taking antiretrovirals to remain productive at work," Dr. Fokam said. "These attitudes will lead to HIV elimination from our workforce even before the year 2030."
