Yaoundé, May 1, 2025 - As Cameroon celebrates Labour Day, Omam Esther, Executive Director of Reach Out Cameroon (ROC) and Global Peace Champion, issues a powerful message to workers across the nation. In a heartfelt reflection, The 4th President of the Cameroon Business Women Association acknowledges the struggles of everyday workers and calls for constructive social dialogue to drive decent work and social progress.
"Today, while songs and parades fill the streets, we pause - not just to celebrate, but to reflect," Omam Esther says. "What is happy about Labour Day when voices are suspended when organizations that serve the people are silenced?"
Despite the challenges, Eringo Cha Ekombo Omam Esther, a Global Peace Champion stands in solidarity with workers, emphasizing their resilience and determination. She urges leaders to prioritize inclusive dialogue, ensuring progress doesn't leave the most vulnerable behind.
"This year, Cameroon calls for 'Constructive Social Dialogue, Vector of Decent Work and Social Progress.' Let it not be just a theme, but a charge," she emphasizes. "Let the dialogue be real, inclusive, and transformative."
