The North West Governor, Adolphe Lele Lafrique, declared Ndu Council as the cleanest city in the North West Region during the Regional Administrative Coordination Meeting (CCA) held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. Fundong Council came in second, while Kumbo Council took third place.
Reading the results, Ndiwum Gilbert Diom, North West regional delegate of Housing and Urban Development, revealed that Ndu Council scored 1063.50 points out of 1200, translating to 88.638%, Fundong Council scored 882.85 points, equivalent to 73.57%, while Kumbo Council scored 615.70 points, representing 51.31%.
At the divisional level, the Housing and Urban Development Delegate disclosed that Santa Council in Mezam Division took the first position with 780 points out of 1000, scoring 65.04%. Ndu Council also excelled in Donga Mantung Division, while Fundong Council topped Boyo Division. Kumbo Council emerged as the cleanest in Bui Division, Wum Council in Menchum Division, and Mbengwi Council in Momo Division.
Abdou Kanfon Borno, Mayor of Ndu Council, expressed his delight at the proclamation, attributing the success to the collective efforts of the population and the municipality's village and neighborhood committees.
According to him, these committees, established two years ago, have been instrumental in disseminating information and engaging the population in cleanliness campaigns.
Mayor Kanfon Borno emphasized that the Ndu Council has been conducting regular hygiene and sanitation campaigns every week and month, with the entire municipality participating in cleanup activities. Further pinpointing that the council has also initiated efforts to beautify the municipality by planting flowers and natural trees along streets.
The mayor pledged to continue working closely with the Regional Delegate of Housing and Urban Development and other services to ensure the municipality remains clean and sustainable. In order to stay top on the chart, Mayor Kanfon Borno explained that the Ndu Council has launched its own Clean Village Competition, which has motivated the entire municipality to participate in cleanliness campaigns.
