South West: Akere Muna Unveils Country's Vision During Tombel Campaign Trail

Barrister Akere Muna, Cameroon's 2025 Presidential candidate has taken his message of reform and hope to the people of Tombel in the Kupe Muanenguba Division of the South West Region of the country. 

The prominent lawyer and political activist made a significant appearance on Saturday, May 24, 2025, where he engaged directly with local residents and garnered support for his candidacy in the upcoming presidential election scheduled for October 2025.

The anti-corruption campaigner, who leads the Now Movement, was joined by a coalition of political figures, including Njang Denis, National President of the Popular Action Party (PAP), and Pierre Baleguel Nkot, Secretary General of the Union des Populations du Cameroun (UPC).

The gathering drew a crowd of enthusiastic supporters who expressed their solidarity with Akere Muna’s vision for a brighter future for Cameroon.

During the meeting, the former Battonier of the Cameroon Bar articulated his ambitions for a new political era, stating, “Tombel is ready for a new Republic.” He emphasized the importance of resilience among the people present, declaring, “This visit has reinforced my belief in the determination of Tombel's citizens to create progress and renewal. Together, we can forge a path to a better nation.”

In addition to political discourse, Barrister Akere Muna did not shy away from addressing pressing infrastructure concerns. He criticized the deteriorating condition of the road connecting Tombel to Loum, which has long been a point of frustration for local residents and travelers alike. 

“My own experience on that eight-kilometer stretch was enlightening, as I felt the overwhelming welcome of the people, underscoring the urgent need for improvement in our infrastructure,” Muna remarked.

Since announcing his presidential bid, Akere Muna has embarked on a nationwide campaign, with a focus on grassroots engagement. His strategy has included multiple visits to key regions, particularly the strongholds of the UPC party in the Centre Region, where he seeks to inspire and unite the populace around his vision.

As the election date approaches, the international legal mind’s growing support base and proactive initiatives signal a dynamic shift in Cameroon’s political landscape, leaving many speculating on the impact he may have on the upcoming electoral process. The energy and enthusiasm witnessed during his visit to Tombel reflect a populace eager for change and ready to rally behind a leader who promises a hopeful future.
