Bamenda, May 4, 2025 - A violent incident in Bambili, North West Region, resulted in the deaths of two individuals, Ngu Clement Afah, a lawyer, and Pa Nebalum Daniel, a retired police officer, on Saturday evening, May 3, 2025.
According to reports, the incident was linked to a failed kidnapping attempt targeting the General Manager of the Upper Nun Valley Development Authority (UNVDA). The incident left several persons injured, including Gerald, Edith, and Gambo.
The would-be kidnappers allegedly attacked the residence, leading to a confrontation that ultimately resulted in the deaths of the two individuals and left several others injured.
The motive behind the attack and the identity of the perpetrators are yet to be confirmed. The incident has raised concerns about security in the area, and authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.
Bambili, once considered a safe haven, has become a battleground for non-state armed groups, plagued by alarming insecurity. The area has witnessed a surge in kidnappings and killings, targeting individuals who don't align with the groups' Ambazonia agenda. This shift has resulted in the tragic loss of several lives, leaving residents in fear and uncertainty.
