He cited the Preamble to the Constitution and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), which Cameroon has ratified, as guaranteeing freedom of assembly. Richard argued that this right applies to all Cameroonians, regardless of their political affiliations.

The activist expressed concern that disrupting the CRM rally undermines the democratic process and stifles the voices of citizens who seek to express their views on governance and national progress. He emphasized that suppressing dissent breeds discontent and erodes trust in democratic institutions.

Richard called on the government to respect the constitutional rights of all citizens, allowing peaceful assemblies to take place without intimidation or interference. He stressed that a fair and just society is built on mutual respect and the acknowledgment of every citizen's right to participate in the democratic process.
