Toronto, Canada – Mayor Peter Chenwi of Bamenda II Council is on a significant mission to establish and strengthen economic ties between Cameroon and Canada. This marks his third working visit to Canada, following a successful partnership agreement established last November that resulted in the opening of the Gurat African Business Center in Toronto.

During his recent stay, Mayor Peter Chenwi served as one of the two distinguished guest speakers from Africa at the Canada-Africa business forum, "Connecting Business Influencers," held at the Pearson Convention Center from July 2 to 4, 2025. The mayor's ambitious vision includes securing funding for a state-of-the-art Waste Management Plant in Bamenda II. This initiative aims to transform organic and inorganic waste into valuable by-products, including electricity, fuels, and fertilizers, thereby creating between 10,000 to 15,000 new jobs. He also discussed the project's broader benefits, which include improved waste management, environmental sustainability, and reduced juvenile delinquency.
