Excitement filled the compound of CBC School Nkambe on August 22, 2025, as children, parents, and teachers gathered for what has now become an anticipated moment of the year, the visit of the André Nodem–Yonshi Nyù Foundation.

One after another, pupils stepped forward to receive brightly colored school bags, stacks of books, and shiny Certificates of Excellence. For the top five achievers in each class, it was more than a reward for their hard work; it was a moment of pride shared with their families and classmates. For over 100 other children among them the vulnerable and those displaced by conflict, the gifts meant something deeper: the chance to return to school with dignity and hope.

The program, fittingly called “Giving Back to the Community,” is more than charity. It carries the memory of the late Pa André Nodem, whose life’s values continue to guide the Foundation’s mission of education, health, and community development.

“This gesture is more than school supplies — it is motivation,” said Reverend Ntunyu, speaking on behalf of the school proprietor. “It tells the children that their efforts are noticed, and it tells parents they are not alone in raising the next generation.”

The presence of community leaders underscored the importance of the occasion. Representing the Fon of Nkambe, His Majesty Fai Nkfu Nyap described the Foundation as “a blessing to our children and our land,” urging the population to support its vision.

But it was in the children’s faces that the true meaning of the day was found. Clutching their new bags, they giggled, compared notebooks, and promised to work harder in class. For their parents, many of whom struggle with the cost of schooling, the relief was evident.

By the end of the ceremony, the message was clear: the André Nodem–Yonshi Nyù Foundation is not just handing out books and bags; it is handing out hope, one child at a time.
