As Cameroon braces for a tense electoral season, peace advocate and humanitarian leader Njomo Omam Esther, Executive Director of Reach Out Cameroon and a recognized Global Peace Champion, has launched a stirring call for peace, urging citizens to embrace dialogue, tolerance, and unity over division.
In a solemn pledge shared under the banner “Pledge for Peace During Elections in Cameroon,” Omam Esther invited Cameroonians across political, cultural, and regional divides to become guardians of peace. Her message resonated with the themes of respect, non-violence, and collective responsibility, at a time when fears of political tensions loom large.
“I pledge, from the depths of my heart, to be a guardian of peace, to speak with respect, to act with kindness, and to reject every form of hate, violence, or division,” she declared, underscoring the importance of civic maturity during elections.
Omam Esther emphasized that Cameroon’s strength lies in its diversity and in the ability of its people to listen and respect differences. “I pledge to respect every voice even those that differ from mine, to seek understanding before judgment, and to remember that our unity is our strength,” she affirmed.
For her, the choice for peace is not abstract, but grounded in the lived realities of families who have suffered conflict. “For the sake of our children, for the love of our nation, for the memory of those who have suffered and those we have lost, I choose peace over conflict, dialogue over anger, and hope over fear,” she said.
Her pledge ends with a vision of elections as a democratic exercise where “every vote counts, every voice matters, and peace is the language that binds us together.” She challenged all Cameroonians to take up the same commitment: “I pledge. Will you?”
Through Reach Out Cameroon, Omam Esther has long worked at the intersection of humanitarian response, peacebuilding, and community empowerment, particularly in the South West Region. Her advocacy for peace during elections adds to her reputation as one of Cameroon’s most consistent voices for non-violence and inclusive development.
As political campaigns intensify, her message stands as both a reminder and a challenge: that the future of Cameroon depends not only on ballots cast, but on the values of peace, tolerance, and unity that guide its people through the process.
