Ahead of October Polls: SDF Endorses Campaign Team, Demands Transparency

Hon. Joshua Osih, SDF National Chairman.

The Social Democratic Front (SDF) has finalized key preparations for the October 12 presidential election, unveiling its national campaign team and calling for heightened transparency in the upcoming vote.

Meeting in Yaoundé recently, the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), chaired by National Chairman Hon. Joshua Osih, adopted a series of resolutions touching on the party’s internal organization, the national political climate, and its international engagements.

On the life of the party, NEC members endorsed the presidential campaign team to be led by Dr. Kakdeu Marie-Louis, the party’s second vice national chairperson, with Fadimatou Dewa (third vice national chairperson) and Achu Fru Benjamin (member of the National Advisory Council) as key figures. Njong Donatus, the party’s Secretary General, was appointed Director of Operations, assisted by National Treasurer Langsi Abel.

The SDF also instructed all regional chairpersons to submit the composition of regional, divisional, and electoral campaign teams by September 16, 2025. A “Wise Men/Women” group, coordinated by Professor Jean Takoungang, was created to bring together presidents of allied political parties, civil society organizations, trade unions, and senior politicians who have endorsed the SDF’s campaign.

On the national political scene, the party called on administrative authorities to guarantee security for a free and fair election, and urged ELECAM to implement measures that will ensure transparency in polling stations nationwide.

The SDF also condemned the convening of the electoral college for regional elections before municipal elections, arguing that this allows current municipal councillors to vote twice for regional councillors, an act the party described as contrary to Cameroon’s electoral code and fundamental democratic principles.

The NEC also celebrated the SDF’s participation in the African Political Parties Initiative (APPI) Summit held in Accra, Ghana, on August 14, 2025, commending Chairman Osih and his delegation for ensuring the party’s visibility on the international stage.

With less than three weeks to the polls, the SDF’s latest resolutions reflect its renewed focus on strengthening party structures, boosting campaign efforts, and pressing for electoral fairness as it seeks to position itself as a leading voice for democracy, justice, and development in Cameroon.
