The ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) has officially unveiled its line-up of regional campaign coordinators, signaling the launch of its nationwide mobilization drive ahead of the October 12 presidential election.
The announcement came through a communiqué signed by Jean Nkuété, Secretary General of the CPDM Central Committee and National Campaign Coordinator.
Circular Signed by Jean Nkuete.
The document details how the party’s national campaign commission will monitor and coordinate activities across Cameroon’s ten regions to ensure what officials call a “cohesive, disciplined, and victorious” campaign effort.
In the Adamawa Region, veteran politician Mohamadou Moustapha has been designated to lead the campaign, while the influential Tsimi Evouna Gilbert will spearhead operations in the Centre Region, a critical battleground that hosts the political capital, Yaoundé.
The East Region will be coordinated by Wongolo Bernard, and Sali Dairou will take charge of the Far North. For the Littoral Region, the party has entrusted Geneviève Tjoues with mobilizing support, while the West will be overseen by Dr. Madeleine Tchuinte.
In the North Region, campaign coordination will again involve Sali Dairou, while the North West has been placed under the stewardship of Regina Mundi, a seasoned CPDM stalwart and influential figure whose role is seen as crucial for consolidating support in a region still grappling with security concerns.
The South Region will be coordinated by Ename Ename Samson, a figure with strong political clout in the area, while in the South West, the party will count on Nfon Ekoko Mukete, whose traditional authority is expected to help boost the CPDM’s presence in a region hit hard by the Anglophone conflict.
Party insiders say the composition of the campaign team reflects a careful balance of regional influence, political experience, and loyalty to the party hierarchy.
The coordinators are tasked with organizing rallies, mobilizing grassroots supporters, ensuring timely distribution of campaign materials, and monitoring adherence to electoral laws.
Jean Nkuété emphasized that the CPDM’s campaign will be guided by the party’s enduring principles of unity, progress, and democracy, and called for militants to display discipline and synergy.
“Our objective is clear: to deliver a resounding victory for President Paul Biya on October 12. This campaign must be one of cohesion, order, and political maturity,” Nkuété stated.
With just weeks remaining before the polls, the CPDM is rolling out its full political machinery, determined to reaffirm its dominance on Cameroon’s political stage and secure another mandate for President Paul Biya.
