The wave of optimism generated by Prime Minister Chief. Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute’s recent working visit to the North West Region continues to reverberate, with prominent business leader Edison Fru Ndi describing the trip as “a blessing” for the people of the region.

Edison Fru Ndi, Chief Executive Officer of Dreamland Holdings PLC and North West Regional Delegate of the Chamber of Commerce, praised the Head of Government’s inauguration of the long-awaited Babadjou–Bamenda Road and the launch of several urban road projects in Bamenda, saying the move marks a turning point for the region’s economy.

“I warmly welcome the Prime Minister’s visit to our Region, accompanied by the Ministers of Public Works and Urban Development,” Fru Ndi wrote in a recent statement. “Their presence and the inauguration of numerous road projects are not only a strong political signal, but also a practical commitment to laying the foundations for sustainable economic growth.”

Roads as Lifelines for Business

Fru Ndi emphasized that modern road infrastructure is critical to the region’s economic revival, arguing that poor roads have long stifled entrepreneurship and driven up the cost of doing business.

“Good roads and modern urban infrastructure are the lifelines of commerce,” he said. “They ease the movement of goods and services, reduce transport costs, open up markets for our local businesses, and make our Region more attractive to investors. Today, with these projects, we can clearly say that the government is giving oxygen to the private sector.”

He urged North West entrepreneurs to seize the momentum created by the new infrastructure and turn it into tangible prosperity for the local population.

PM’s Visit Marks Major Milestones

Prime Minister Dion Ngute’s three-day visit, which began last Wednesday, was highlighted by the inauguration of the over 35km Babadjou–Bamenda Road, a vital link between the West and North West Regions.

The Head of Government also launched construction works for the 6.5km Bamenda Urban Crossing, a key city road network designed to ease congestion across major junctions, including Amour Mezam, Finance Junction, Veterinary Junction, T-Junction, Hospital Roundabout, and Food Market Roundabout.

The PM’s delegation, which included top cabinet ministers, including the Director of the Prime Minister's Cabinet, Balungeli Confiance Ebune also held working sessions at the North West Regional Assembly, reviewing ongoing projects funded through the French Debt Relief and Development Contracts (C2D) and other state-backed initiatives.

A Business Leader Committed to Development

Widely regarded as a development-oriented businessman and philanthropist, Edison Fru Ndi has been a leading voice for private sector growth in the North West. Through Dreamland Holdings PLC, he operates one of the region’s largest gravel production plants, capable of producing 250 tonnes of gravel per hour, and employing hundreds of youths.

His entrepreneurial ventures, from Dreamland Restaurant, the first high-end restaurant in Bamenda, to a top-ranked cabaret and snack bar, have contributed to job creation, entertainment, and the local economy.

Elected as North West Regional Delegate of the Chamber of Commerce in 2020 and recently appointed to its Executive Board, Edison Fru Ndi continues to advocate for stronger public-private partnerships to spur regional development.

“Together, with resilience and vision, we can transform these projects into real engines of prosperity for our people,” he said.
