Cameroon’s Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, has called on all presidential candidates cleared to run in the October 12, 2025 election to present themselves or their duly mandated representatives on Monday, September 29, to collect the first installment of state campaign funding.
In a communiqué issued Thursday September 25, 2025, Minister Atanga Nji invoked Article 286 of the Electoral Code, which provides for the allocation of public funds to support electoral campaigns. The funds, he said, will be disbursed beginning at 10 a.m. at the department of Financial and Material Resources of the Ministry of Territorial Administration, door 218.
Candidates or their representatives will be required to present a legalized national identity card as well as a duly signed mandate or power of attorney from the legal representative of their political party before accessing the funds.

The communiqué also clarified that the second installment of campaign financing will be released in line with legal provisions after the election process is underway.
The disbursement of public funds for campaigns is a key component of Cameroon’s effort to promote equity among candidates, allowing both ruling and opposition parties access to financial resources for outreach and mobilization.
With less than three weeks to polling day, Monday’s exercise will mark the official kick-off of full-scale campaign operations across the country, as parties intensify efforts to reach voters in what is expected to be one of the most competitive elections in recent memory.
Political observers say the release of funds is crucial, especially for smaller opposition parties that rely heavily on state financing to carry out meaningful campaigns.
