Confidence and loyalty defined the mood in Santa as militants of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) for the Mezam II Section Santa pledged to deliver nothing short of a landslide for President Paul Biya in the October 12 presidential election.
Speaking at the official launch of campaigns at the Women Empowerment conference hall in Santa, on Sunday September 28, 2025, Section President and Campaign Team Manager, Mbah Shupong Michael, assured that victory was already secured for the party.
“A coach who prepares his team extremely well is never afraid of an encounter,” he declared, stressing that Santa’s support for the Head of State is unwavering. “Follow his history, His Excellency Paul Biya has never failed an exam, and it will not be this time. The victory in Santa is non-negotiable.”
Youths and Women Rally Behind the Party
The show of support was not limited to senior officials. The YCPDM Section President, Tandong Iris Zoum, and the WCPDM President, Fonkwa Teneng Judith, spoke on behalf of Santa’s youths and women, respectively pledging to mobilize grassroots structures to ensure the Head of State emerges with the best results nationwide.
In a passionate speech, Tandong Iris reminded the youths of Santa that President Biya’s leadership had been a lifeline during turbulent years in the North West. Citing the Presidential Plan for Reconstruction and Development (PPRD), ongoing road works on the Bamenda–Babadjou stretch, and youth empowerment programs, he described Biya as “the guardian of our peace and the builder of our dreams.”
“Youths of Santa, you are not extras in this story, you are the stars,” he told the crowd. “On October 12, let your thumbprint echo across Cameroon: 100% for Paul Biya!”
Traditional Blessings and Party Strategy
The campaign launch was further endorsed by Santa’s traditional authorities. Fon Mokom Njei III of Mbei, representing the fons of the subdivision, invoked blessings on the campaign teams: “We are behind you. Be strong, go in peace and win for us.”
On behalf of the CPDM Central Committee, Fongod Edwin Nuvaga installed and blessed zonal campaign teams while commending Santa’s militants for their decades of commitment.
He conveyed President Biya’s gratitude to veteran party loyalists who stood firm since the early days of the CPDM, even during times of political persecution.
Former Section President Fru Jonathan, now Central Committee Rapporteur, outlined the tactical focus for the campaigns. “Victory is not at rallies, it is at the polling stations,” he emphasized.
“Our duty is to target electors, protect votes, and ensure our representatives defend the party’s results from beginning to end.”
“Santa is a Green Zone”
Fru Jonathan reminded militants of Santa’s strong record in past elections. “In 2018, despite the difficult terrain, Santa gave the best results in the North West region. Today, Santa is a green zone,” he said, pointing to achievements such as uninterrupted electricity, improved healthcare, modern schools, and visible road infrastructure.
Vice Campaign Team Manager Patrice Lumumba Mbah echoed the same sentiment, urging militants to honour Santa’s legacy of loyalty to the ruling party.
Optimism Ahead of October 12
In an interview after the launch, Mbah Shupong Michael stressed that the campaign strategy was well-structured, with grassroots village campaign teams in place to ensure turnout on election day.
“We are voting for a candidate who has proven himself through experience, humility, and consistency,” he said. “The Babadjou-Bamenda road alone is proof that President Biya delivers. On October 12, Santa will give him nothing less than a resounding victory.”
As campaign songs echoed through Santa and militants pledged unwavering loyalty, one message rang clear: the CPDM in Mezam II Section is determined to deliver not just victory, but one of the strongest results nationwide in honour of their “champion” Paul Biya.
