The Secretary General of the CPDM Central Committee and National Campaign Coordinator, Jean Nkuete, has called on militants and sympathizers of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) in the North West Region to rally as one for the re-election of President Paul Biya on October 12, describing him as the symbol of Cameroon’s greatness, stability, and hope.
Addressing a mammoth crowd that defied heavy rains at the Bamenda Commercial Avenue Grandstand, the party’s chief scribe reaffirmed the historic bond between the CPDM and the North West Region, birthplace of the party and political home of President Biya.
“We are here today for an occasion of exceptional significance,” Jean Nkuete said. “The campaign in support of our illustrious candidate, His Excellency President Paul Biya, is not only about victory at the polls but about consolidating peace, stability, national unity, and the development of our country, values for which the North West has always stood tall.”
Tribute to Philemon Yang and the North West Spirit
In a moving tribute, Jean Nkuete welcomed home Philemon Yang, President of the CPDM Regional Campaign Committee and President of the 79th United Nations General Assembly, commending his wisdom and patriotism.
“Comrade Yang’s remarkable leadership at the United Nations is a premonition of the resounding victory awaiting President Paul Biya on October 12,” Nkuete declared, to resounding applause.
“His achievements reflect the greatness of Cameroon, the same greatness that President Biya’s project embodies for the next seven years.”
The CPDM scribe urged militants to pursue the campaign with renewed vigour, emphasizing that the Head of State’s vision for a “Great and Hopeful Cameroon” is anchored on the moral strength of its citizens and the unshakeable patriotism of regions like the North West.
“President Paul Biya’s ambition is to accelerate the advent of a new citizenship, Cameroonians with deep love for their country, united in building a peaceful, prosperous, and indivisible nation,” he said.
Philemon Yang: “The North West Is Steadfast and Determined”
Speaking earlier, Philemon Yang described the North West as the cradle of the CPDM and reaffirmed that its militants are unwavering in their support for President Biya. He detailed the progress of the presidential campaign across all seven divisions, Mezam, Momo, Menchum, Donga Mantung, Boyo, Bui, and Ngoketunjia, stressing that activities have been launched in almost every section.
“CPDM militants in this region are determined to vote for President Paul Biya come October 12,” Yang said. “Our proximity campaigns are in full swing. Collaboration between regional, divisional, and communal committees has been effective, and the enthusiasm on the ground is overwhelming.”
He praised the Central Committee for ensuring the timely distribution of campaign materials, noting that “all is well in the region” and that the North West will deliver a massive victory for President Biya.
Minister Felix Mbayu: “No Political Adventurer Can Deceive the North West”
In a fiery and passionate intervention, Minister Felix Mbayu, CPDM Mezam Divisional Campaign President and Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of the Commonwealth, warned against “political adventurers” who attempt to mislead the electorate with unrealistic promises.
“The people of the North West are neither naive nor feeble-minded,” he said. “We know our history. We stand for unity, for peace, and for President Paul Biya, the man whose wisdom and vision have guided this nation through difficult times.”
He lambasted opposition candidates who, during brief visits to Bamenda, claimed friendship with those responsible for violence and suffering in the region.
“How can anyone seeking to lead Cameroon profess friendship with those who burn schools and impose ghost towns?” he asked.
“The people of Bamenda know better. They will not gamble with the future of this nation.”
Robert Bapooh Lipot: “UPC Stands with the CPDM”
In a rare show of political alliance, Hon. Robert Bapooh Lipot, Secretary General of the Union of the Peoples of Cameroon (UPC), reaffirmed the long-standing partnership between the UPC and the CPDM, urging militants and sympathizers to vote massively for President Paul Biya.
“Bamenda gave President Paul Biya the title of Fon of Fons,” he reminded the crowd. “It is our duty to defend this alliance by voting for him overwhelmingly on October 12. Bamenda is his second home and we must protect his legacy.”
Jules François Famawa, the chief executive officer of Sky Hills Security, JFF Holding International, JFF fishing company, JFF oil company SA amongst others, boosted the CPDM campaign in the region with a donation of a 60-seater bus to the University of Bamenda.
A Region Renewed in Hope
Throughout the rally, speaker after speaker emphasized peace, stability, and gratitude to the Head of State for his development efforts from infrastructure to agricultural modernization and social cohesion programs. The event symbolized a show of unity and resolve, as hundreds of militants danced, waved party flags, and chanted pro-Biya slogans.
As the campaign train leaves Bamenda for other parts of the country, Jean Nkuete’s message was clear: the North West remains a cornerstone of national unity and a reliable bastion of the CPDM.
“Next Sunday, October 12, Cameroon will write another golden chapter in its history,” he concluded. “It will be a chapter marked by the victory of President Paul Biya, the man of peace, hope, and greatness.”
