In the heat of Cameroon’s 2025 presidential campaign, Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations, Felix Mbayu, took the message of peace, unity, and sustained development to the heart of the Muslim community in Old Town, Bamenda, calling for renewed faith in President Paul Biya’s leadership.

The Grand Mosque esplanade of Old Town was packed on Saturday as Minister Mbayu, who also doubles as CPDM Divisional Campaign President for Mezam, addressed worshippers and party militants. His message was simple but resonant: “Peace is priceless, and President Paul Biya remains the guarantor of that peace.”

“Muslim Community, Pillar of Loyalty”

Speaking with warmth and conviction, the Minister praised the Muslim community’s steadfast loyalty to the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM), describing them as “a pillar of peace and stability” in a region that has faced years of crisis.

“The Muslim community has always stood with the CPDM through the rain and sunshine, even during the Prime Minister’s visit when you came out massively despite the heavy downpour,” Mbayu said. “That loyalty cannot go unnoticed.”

He urged the faithful to remain vigilant and not fall prey to what he described as “political opportunists who appear only during election season.”

“Most of the projects you see in Old Town, the tarring of internal roads, the construction of the Islamic school, and social support to families are fruits of President Paul Biya’s vision. Vote for continuity, not empty promises,” he declared to loud applause.

Beyond Politics: A Deep Human Connection

For Minister Mbayu, his relationship with the Old Town Muslim community is personal and rooted in shared history.

“I was born in this neighbourhood. I grew up playing, laughing, and crying with my Muslim brothers and sisters. We never knew any difference between us,” he told reporters after the event. “So today, I came home to talk with family and to remind them that our unity is stronger than politics or religion.”

He cautioned the faithful against what he called “fair-weather friends” who suddenly appear seeking votes.

“When someone who hasn’t visited you in 30 years suddenly shows up asking for your support, be careful,” Mbayu warned. “When you’re hungry, religion doesn’t matter hunger is hunger. What matters is leadership that delivers, and President Paul Biya has always delivered.”

Concrete Actions, Not Empty Words

Minister Mbayu’s outreach to the Muslim community has long gone beyond campaign speeches. He has supported the construction of the Eid prayer ground with 250 bags of cement, donated food items during Ramadan, and offered scholarships and school supplies to children in need.

“Development is meaningful only when it transforms lives,” he said. “That’s what President Biya’s leadership represents peace with purpose and progress that touches every home.”

The gathering, organized on short notice, nonetheless drew a massive turnout, reflecting the community’s deep trust and alignment with the CPDM. Local leaders reaffirmed their commitment to rallying voters on October 12, emphasizing that Old Town’s Muslims have always stood on the side of stability and progress.

“Talk Is Cheap, Action Is Concrete”

As chants of “CPDM! Victory!” echoed through the courtyard, Minister Felix Mbayu concluded his message with a powerful appeal:

“We have seen what President Biya has done, the roads, the schools, the praying ground. Talk is cheap, but action is concrete and formidable. That’s why we must stand firm and vote for the man who delivers.”

A Meeting of Faith, Unity, and Conviction

Saturday’s meeting at the Esplanade of the Big Mosque in Old Town was more than a political rally, it was a reaffirmation of faith, brotherhood, and shared destiny.

"I am confident with my people that come October 12, 2025, they will all vote for His Excellency President Paul Biya. We have no doubt abour that", Hamza a political muslim leader reaffirmed.

As the 2025 presidential election draws near, Minister Felix Mbayu’s call echoed far beyond the mosque walls: that peace, unity, and development must remain the compass guiding Cameroon’s future under the steady leadership of President Paul Biya.
