The courtyard of Ntambag I, Old Town, came alive on Monday October 6, as militants and sympathizers of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) gathered in a spirited rally to reaffirm their support for President Paul Biya ahead of the October 12 presidential election.

The event, organized by Councillors Tasah Godlove, Solange Meyang, and Ayafor Eric Epene of the Bamenda II Council, was part of the CPDM’s proximity campaign strategy aimed at engaging grassroots communities across the North West Region.

Experience Over Rhetoric

Speaking during the rally, Councillor Tasah Godlove, who also serves as a City Councillor at the Bamenda City Council, said the people of Bamenda II continue to place their trust in President Paul Biya because of his unmatched experience and leadership through turbulent times.

“We have passed through difficult moments, but we still bow before a leader with experience, someone who can, with tact and wisdom, continue to lead us forward,” he said. “Many people talk and spread rumours, but those who are blind cannot see what we are seeing. President Paul Biya remains our father and the most capable person to guide Cameroon.”

He added that militants of Bamenda II remain loyal to the Head of State, emphasizing that peace and stability under his leadership are the foundation of progress in the subdivision and the region at large.

“An elder sitting down can see further than a child standing on a mountain,” Councillor Tasah said metaphorically. “Our father, President Biya, has done better than anyone else could have done, and we will continue to rally behind him for a one and indivisible Cameroon.”

Wisdom and Stability Above All

For her part, Councillor Solange Meyang urged militants of Ntambag and Bamenda II to come out en masse on election day to vote for President Biya, describing him as a true statesman whose wisdom has kept Cameroon stable for over four decades.

“Yes, some people say he has been in power for too long,” she admitted, “but it is because of his wisdom and experience that Cameroon has remained peaceful and united. His Excellency Paul Biya has never failed us, and he will not fail us now.”

She reminded the population that even those from opposing political parties have, at one point, recognized President Biya’s contributions to the nation.

“That is why we are calling on all militants of Ntambag to go to the polls on October 12 and vote for the white ballot, carrying fire with our father’s face on it,” she said. “That vote represents our hopes, our future, and the continuity of progress.”

Civic Duty and Political Awareness

The councillors also used the opportunity to sensitize the population on the importance of civic responsibility, urging everyone to exercise their right to vote freely and peacefully.

“Nobody should stop you from voting,” Councillor Meyang added. “It is your constitutional right, and we already know who has proven he can rule this country with wisdom and compassion.”

The local campaign is part of a wider nationwide mobilization drive by the CPDM to consolidate support for President Biya’s re-election, emphasizing the themes of peace, experience, and continuity as the pillars of Cameroon’s future.
