Omam Esther Reiterates Call for Justice, Peace as Cameroon Faces Turbulent Times

As Cameroon navigates one of the most delicate moments in its modern history, Omam Esther Eringo Cha Ekombo, Global Peace Champion and Executive Director of Reach Out Cameroon, has once again urged citizens and leaders alike to choose dialogue, empathy, justice, and peace over division and fear.

With uncertainty and tension weighing heavily on communities across the nation, the peace crusader noted that many Cameroonians are asking difficult questions about justice, unity, and the kind of nation they wish to build questions that, she said, strike at the very heart of the country’s future.

“True peace cannot exist without justice, and justice cannot stand without peace. Both are pillars of our shared humanity,” she emphasized in a recent reflection.

As a seasoned humanitarian and peacebuilder, Omam Esther has spent more than two decades working with vulnerable populations through Reach Out Cameroon, a civil society organization dedicated to improving lives through health, education, and empowerment initiatives. Her tireless efforts have earned her both national and international recognition as one of Cameroon’s leading voices for peace, inclusion, and justice.
At a time when divisions risk deepening, she is calling for introspection rather than confrontation.

“This is not a time for division or vengeance,” she noted. “It is a time for collective reflection — to ask ourselves what kind of nation we wish to build and what legacy we want to leave for generations after us.”

Her appeal comes as many Cameroonians express a deep longing for stability, dignity, and fairness amid ongoing social and political challenges. To her, the path forward must be rooted in empathy, justice, and mutual respect principles that transcend politics, ethnicity, and personal interest.

“May those in authority listen sincerely,” she urged. “May citizens speak responsibly. And may we all find the courage to choose dialogue over destruction, empathy over anger, and fraternity over fear.”

For Omam Esther, peace is not merely the absence of war; it is a living practice built on fairness, compassion, and shared purpose. Her message resonates across generations: that true progress can only be achieved when justice and peace walk hand in hand.
