The Popular Action Party (PAP) has officially extended a heartfelt message of recognition, appreciation, and encouragement to Barrister Akere Tabeng Muna, commending his integrity, humility, and relentless pursuit of democratic change in Cameroon.

In a statement signed by National President Njang Denis Tabe and Secretary General Njine Elvis Baneh, the party praised Barrister Muna’s “profound contributions to the democratic future of our beloved nation” and reaffirmed its unwavering respect for his leadership and principles.

According to the communiqué, the PAP’s earlier endorsement of Barrister Muna as its presidential candidate was “born out of a profound and unshakable conviction” in his personality and statesmanship, a conviction that only deepened during thirteen months of close collaboration.

“You demonstrated, time and again, that our convictions about your personality, integrity, and selflessness were rooted in the deep bedrock of your genuine statesmanship,” the statement read. “We can today bear witness to the enormous sacrifices you have made, not for personal gain, but for the general good of all Cameroonians.”

The party recalled several defining moments of Muna’s political journey, including his instrumental role in fostering opposition unity.

PAP highlighted his leadership in initiating the Foumban meeting and hosting opposition figures at the Muna Foundation in a bid to build a common front for change.

Despite challenges and setbacks, Muna’s commitment to coalition politics and democratic reform remained steadfast.

The party noted that, as he did in 2018 when he stepped aside for Professor Maurice Kamto, Muna once again placed collective interest above personal ambition,  joining forces with leaders such as Bello Bouba Maigari and Ateki Caxton Seta.

“Your unwavering drive has always been genuine change for Cameroon and Cameroonians, not a desperate ambition for power,” PAP emphasized.

While acknowledging that the recent electoral results did not align with the coalition’s expectations, the party lauded Muna for remaining “true to his principles” and for calling for respect of the people’s will.

“You are an inspiration to thousands of silent observers,” the statement continued. “We have learned from you the profound canons of patriotism, humility, and selflessness, and we are ready to continue following in your steps.”

The message concluded with words of gratitude and encouragement, reaffirming PAP’s commitment to the ideals embodied by Barrister Akere Muna.

“It was a great moment, a wonderful experience altogether, and we remain eternally grateful,” the party declared. “God bless you, and God bless Cameroon.”
