The Social Democratic Front (SDF) has publicly distanced itself from Senator Mochiggle Vanigansen after his participation in what the party describes as an “anti-party activity” alongside Minister of Territorial Administration, Atanga Nji Paul, during a CPDM campaign gathering at Up-Station, Bamenda, on October 3, 2025.
In a communiqué signed on Friday October 3, 2025, by the party’s Secretary General, Njong Fonyuy Donatus, the SDF expressed “embarrassment” over the senator’s actions, noting that his attendance at a rival campaign event amounted to a breach of party discipline as enshrined in Section 15 (ii) of its Constitution.
According to the release, Senator Mochiggle was never mandated by the SDF to attend any CPDM rally. On the contrary, he is a designated member of the SDF campaign team and was expected to be canvassing support for the party’s presidential candidate, Hon. Joshua Osih, in the Centre Region.
“The SDF distances itself from the activities of Senator Mochiggle and the utterances of Minister Atanga Nji concerning the SDF during that meeting. By his action, Senator Mochiggle has distanced himself from the party,” the statement declared.
The party leadership further emphasized that it remains firmly focused on campaigning for its candidate, Hon. Joshua Osih, ahead of the October 12 presidential election. It also hinted at possible sanctions, noting that the National Executive Committee (NEC) will “take its responsibility” in handling the senator’s case.
The development underscores the mounting tensions within opposition ranks as the campaign season heats up, with the SDF vowing to safeguard its image against actions that could “embarrass or bring the party into disrepute.”
