Hon. Nourane Foster, Member of Parliament for Wouri East in the Littoral Region, announced that she will not attend the official reopening of Cameroon’s National Assembly scheduled for Monday, November 3, 2025.
In a statement shared under the banner “NF 2.0,” the lawmaker under the PCRN political party explained her decision as an act of solidarity with citizens calling for greater freedom of expression and respect for diverse opinions.
“I have chosen to heed the people’s cries for freedom of expression and respect for differing views,” she declared.
Hon. Foster, a prominent entrepreneur and political figure, cited growing public frustration over arbitrary arrests, youth detentions, and economic stagnation as reasons for her stance.
“Arbitrary arrests, young people stripped of their freedom, the economy at a standstill, we must come together to push for positive change,” she added.
Her announcement on the eve of the Parliamentary session has sparked debate on social media, with supporters praising her courage and critics questioning the impact of her boycott.
As parliamentary activities for the third ordinary session resume in Yaoundé, all eyes will be on whether her symbolic absence will influence broader discussions on governance and civil liberties in Cameroon.
