North West Police Officers Receive Epaulettes, Urged to be Professionals

A ceremony to award epaulettes to some meritorious police officers in the North West Region took place on Friday, December 12, 2025, at the esplanade of the Senior Divisional Officer’s (SDO’s) office in Upstation, bringing together administrative, security, and police officials.

Speaking on behalf of the Government and the Delegate General for National Security, the Governor of the North West Region, Adolphe Lele Lafrique, congratulated the officers who received their epaulettes, describing the promotions as recognition from the highest hierarchy of the police force and from the Head of State.

“These officers have been recognized by the high command of the police in this country and by the Head of State himself,” Governor Lele Lafrique said. He noted that the promotions come with greater responsibility and urged the beneficiaries to work with increased professionalism in order to reassure the population throughout the North West Region.

The Governor stressed that the ceremony comes at a crucial moment, as communities prepare to celebrate end-of-year festivities. He called on the newly promoted officers to redouble their efforts on the field, maintain a visible presence, and guarantee the security of persons and property. According to him, professionalism and proximity to the population remain key expectations from the police hierarchy.

The North West Regional Delegate for National Security, Wilson Elung Njume-Njikang, on his part, detailed the categories of officers promoted during the ceremony. He revealed that 19 Senior Superintendents of Police received their epaulettes in Yaounde on the same day, while promotions within the region included three Second Grade Police Officers, five Senior Police Inspectors, 15 Second Grade Police Inspectors, 179 Senior Police Constables, and two Second Grade Police Constables.

The North West police boss emphasized that the ceremony was not merely symbolic but aimed at boosting morale and strengthening the operational capacity of the police force in the region. 

He reminded the promoted officers that the confidence placed in them by the hierarchy must be reflected in discipline, respect for ethics, and closer collaboration with the population.

The ceremony ended with renewed assurances from administrative and security authorities that the police remain committed to maintaining peace and security in the North West Region, particularly during the festive period.

It is worth noting that the ceremony was attended by Brigadier General Bouba Dobekreo, Commander of the 5th Joint Military Region (RMIA 5) and Brigadier General Housseini Djibo, Commander of the 5th Gendarmerie Region (RG5), including other top regional authorities.
