President Regional Supervision Committee, Other Members.

The President of the Regional Supervision Committee, Lord Justice Sokem Ngalle Mborh, officially proclaimed the results of the November 30 Regional Assembly Elections for the North West Region. The announcement on Tuesday December 2, 2025, confirmed an overall strong participation among municipal councillors and a more uneven turnout from the college of traditional rulers.

Justice Sokem revealed that out of the 999 electors expected to participate under the college of municipal councillors, 838 effectively took part, giving an impressive participation rate of 83.88 percent. With the CPDM presenting the lone list across the region, all 70 proposed members of the Regional Assembly were declared elected, including the incumbent president, Prof. Fru Angwafo III.

In contrast, participation in the House of Chiefs varied widely from one division to another, with particularly low turnout in areas where only a single list was presented. Boyo Division recorded just 13 voters out of 67 expected traditional rulers, while Bui Division also saw only 13 out of 66 rulers taking part despite having a single list headed by Fon Wirba Mbinglo Patrick. Justice Sokem’s commission, however, noted significantly higher engagement in Menchum, Mezam and Ngoketunjia, where competitive races were held.

Mezam Division featured two lists, one led by the Fon of Bali, Fon Ganyonga III Doh, and the other by the Fon of Kedjom Ketinguh, Fon Viyuoh Nelson Sheteh. Thirty traditional rulers voted, with Fon Doh obtaining 13 votes and Fon Viyuoh winning with 17. A complaint alleging that someone voted on behalf of a deceased Fon was reviewed by the commission, but the filing failed to identify the individual involved. The commission further noted that even if such a vote had occurred, it would not have closed the margin between the two lists and, therefore, declared the complaint inadmissible. Fon Viyuoh Nelson Sheteh was confirmed the winner.

Other competitive divisions also produced clear outcomes. In Menchum, 65 of the 70 expected traditional rulers voted, with the list headed by Fon Ndung Nuhu Mvo of Wum securing 34 votes, followed by the list of Fon Bahmbi III Mathias with 24 votes, and a third list led by Mommandou Ardo with 8 votes. Donga Mantung Division registered 68 voters out of 113 traditional rulers, where the list of Fon Nfor Amidu Nji won overwhelmingly with 59 votes against Fon Mbuim Samuel, who received 9. In Momo Division, the list led by Fon Gwan Mbahyam Sig III of Guzang emerged victorious, marking his second entry into the House of Chiefs. Across the region, 238 of the 455 expected traditional rulers voted, with the incumbent President of the House, Fon Yakum Kevin Teuvih, sailing unopposed in Ngoketunjia.

Menchum had 93 of its 99 councillors take part, a rate of 93.9 percent. Mezam recorded 214 of 221 councillors voting, corresponding to 96.83 percent. Momo saw 102 of 124 councillors vote, giving a rate of 82.26 percent, while Ngoketunjia posted 93 voters out of 96, amounting to 96.88 percent.
