5th Anniversary Celebration: Women of Virtue Association Reach Out to Special-Needs Orphans in Bafoussam

Women of Virtue Association Cameroon Immortalize Visit at Orphanage.

The Women of Virtue Association Cameroon, on Saturday, January 10, 2026, marked the climax of its fifth anniversary celebrations with a humanitarian visit to Maison Saint Damient et Camile de Bafoussam, an orphanage dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of children with mental and physical disabilities.

The visit, which took place at the orphanage at Première Carrefour Quartier Évêché in Bafoussam, was aimed at providing both material and financial assistance to vulnerable children, many of whom live with autism, mobility challenges, and severe developmental disabilities.
Njong Loveline, President of Women of Virtue Association Cameroon.

Speaking during the outreach, Njong Loveline, President and Founder of Women of Virtue Association Cameroon, said the gesture was motivated by the association’s commitment to supporting children who lack parental care and basic necessities.

“We are here today to visit the children of this orphanage and to help them financially and materially. We came with these items to help in their growth and well-being,” she said.
“Women of Virtue is a group of young married women who have taken it upon themselves to look after vulnerable children who do not even have the opportunity to be raised by their biological parents.”

She explained that the Bafoussam visit was not the association’s first humanitarian action. Over the years, the group has reached orphanages across the country, including Mispa’s Orphanage in Mile 5 Nkwen and Helping Hands Orphanage in Bamenda, an orphanage in Dschang, and a foster care home in Limbe.

According to Loveline, a jurist by profession, the needs of the children in Bafoussam were identified in advance through consultations with the orphanage’s matron. “That is why today we brought a brand-new deep freezer to help preserve food, a water filter to provide clean drinking water, and several food and non-food items,” she explained.

The donated items included bags of rice, beans, corn, flour, garri, sugar, salt, cooking oil, detergents, soap, toilet tissue, sanitary pads, diapers, Maggi cubes, sachet tomatoes, and other essentials.

Njong Loveline also used the opportunity to appeal to the general public to show greater concern for children living in vulnerable conditions. “What we have seen here today is not the usual. We met children with more difficulties than expected, children who cannot talk or walk, and autistic children who require constant care. It will be nice for people to visit such homes, see things for themselves, and be motivated to give more,” she urged.

Founded on January 7, 2021, the Women of Virtue Association Cameroon has its head office in Dschang, with branches in Bamenda, Yaounde, Douala, Bafoussam, and Buea. The association currently has 26 members, all of whom must be married women.
Ngiah Blandine Foncha, Vice President of Women of Virtue Association.

On the financial aspect of the outreach, Ngiah Blandine Foncha, Vice President of the association, explained that members largely rely on personal contributions and goodwill donations. “As a group, we contribute funds to put all these things together. This year, we also reached out to people of goodwill through letters of appeal,” she said.
“Though many of the letters did not receive responses, with the little that came in, we did our best to purchase what you see here today.”

Beyond charity, Foncha emphasized that the association also focuses on strengthening marriages and families. “This forum was created for married women to build our homes. Through discussions, teachings, and fasting programs, we have been able to cope with marital challenges and grow spiritually as wives,” she added.
Tchamba Chantal, Promoter of Maison Saint Damient et Camile de Bafoussam.

Receiving the donations, Tchamba Chantal, Matron and Promoter of Maison Saint Damient et Camile de Bafoussam, expressed deep gratitude to the association, describing their intervention as timely and life-sustaining.

She recounted that the center, created in October 2010, currently hosts 23 children with special needs. “This work is a call from God. If it were my own will, I would have abandoned these children long ago,” she said.
“My own daughter inspired the creation of this center, and after receiving training in special needs care, many parents encouraged me to extend this help to other children.”

Tchamba Chantal highlighted the numerous challenges faced by the orphanage, including food shortages, abandoned construction projects, security concerns, and the daily care of children who cannot feed, clean, or protect themselves.

“There are days we struggle to eat just once a day. Some of these children need 24/7 monitoring. Despite everything, seeing visitors come puts smiles on their faces,” she said, adding,
“The items brought by the Women of Virtue Association will go a long way in keeping us going.”
Che Amadine, Head of Social Department, Women of Virtue Association.

Also present was Che Amadine, Head of the Social Department of Women of Virtue Association, who testified to the personal growth she has experienced within the group. “This association has helped me spiritually, morally, and even financially. We support one another as sisters while extending help to vulnerable children,” she said.
“Jesus is our founder, and that spiritual foundation makes our work meaningful.”
Tata Lidien, Member of Women of Virtue Association.

For Tata Lidien, a member of the association, being a Woman of Virtue goes beyond charity. “It embodies kindness, empathy, love, and the responsibility to build our homes with honour,” she noted.
“As women, we must touch lives in our communities and be role models as mothers and wives.”

The visit ended with moments of interaction, prayer, and encouragement, leaving the children visibly joyful and the caregivers hopeful.

As the Women of Virtue Association Cameroon celebrates five years of existence, its members reaffirm their commitment to humanitarian service, family values, and uplifting the most vulnerable members of society, one act of compassion at a time.
