The Mitanyen Cooperative Credit Union Limited (MitaCCUL) has reaffirmed its position as one of Cameroon’s most dynamic cooperative financial institutions. This comes following a successful 25th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at its Head Office in Sonac Street, Bamenda.

The landmark meeting brought together members from across the country to review the Credit Union’s performance in 2025, adopt new resolutions, and outline an ambitious roadmap for the future. From strong financial returns to rapid digital transformation, the AGM painted the picture of an institution that has grown from modest origins into a key driver of member prosperity.

Built From Humble Beginnings

In his address, Barrister Muluh Stanly, President of MitaCCUL, reflected on the Credit Union’s journey and the visible impact it has had on the lives of its members. “MitaCCUL started from very humble beginnings,” he said. “Many of the members you see today, who are now considered successful and financially stable, built that success through this Credit Union.”

According to the President, the 2025 financial year ended on a strong note, with MitaCCUL realizing 103 percent of its budget, a performance he described as clear evidence of prudent management and member commitment. Members also benefited from a six percent interest rate on their shares, an exceptional return within the cooperative finance sector. “These are concrete benefits members are taking home,” Muluh Stanley noted, adding that the institution’s investment in technology is beginning to yield results.

Technology Driving a New Era

One of the highlights of the AGM was the continued rollout of the Mitanyen Mobile App, which has significantly changed how members interact with the Credit Union.
The President described MitaCCUL’s technological shift as a form of positive disruption. “The platform we have put in place permits us to perform more excellently,” he said. “Because of this platform, we are projecting that our performance will double in 2026.”

He further revealed that MitaCCUL has adopted a three-year development restructuring plan, which has already received approval from the Banking Commission. Careful implementation of this plan, he said, is expected to strengthen operations, address existing challenges, and expand the institution’s reach beyond previous limits.

Recovery and Expansion at the Core

Also addressing the AGM, Nkengla Blesse, Assistant General Manager of MitaCCUL, explained that management’s primary focus in 2025 was recovery, particularly in the area of interest collection. “Interest collection is the backbone of our budget,” he said. “If we get recovery right, the Credit Union will remain strong.”

Despite ongoing challenges, MitaCCUL presented a robust 2026 budget of nearly 1.4 billion francs CFA, reflecting confidence in the institution’s growth trajectory. A key component of the budget is the planned opening of five new branches within the year.

Nkengla Blaise also highlighted MitaCCUL’s pioneering role in digital finance, describing it as the first microfinance institution in the country with a fully functional and exclusive mobile application. “Our members can carry out transactions anywhere they are, even outside the country,” he said. “You can transfer funds, pay loans, play njangis, and cash out in favor of third parties, all through the app.”

Cash Hubs Bringing Services Closer

Beyond digital innovation, MitaCCUL has expanded access through its cash hubs small collection points strategically located in busy areas. “Not everyone has the time to come to the head office,” Nkengla Blaise explained. “So we take our services to them.”
These cash hubs proved highly effective in 2025, generating collections of about five billion francs CFA, and are now spread across multiple regions of the country.
