The Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC) on Sunday, January 18, 2026, formally instituted and inducted Rev. Ngongan Paul Anyam as the Moderator’s Representative for the North West Region. This was during a solemn worship service held at PC Bamenda Station.
The ceremony was presided over by the Moderator of the PCC, Rt. Rev. Miki Hans Abia brought together a cross-section of church hierarchy, state authorities, traditional rulers, clergy, and Christians from across the region.
In his charge to the newly inducted Moderator’s Representative, Rt. Rev. Miki Hans Abia drew from biblical imagery, urging Rev. Ngongan to serve with humility, devotion, and total dependence on God.
“I charge you, go and feed the flock of God,” the Moderator declared. “Do your work as a servant and steward of God’s holy mysteries with eagerness and devotion, not trusting in your own strength, but hoping in Him whom you serve.”
The Moderator further called on Christians of the North West Region to receive, support, and pray for their new leader, stressing that the success of his ministry would depend on collective commitment and unity. He described the appointment not only as a responsibility for Rev. Ngongan, but also a call to example for PC Bamenda Station and the entire Mezam Presbytery.
Addressing the congregation and invited guests, Rt. Rev. Abia expressed appreciation to the Governor of the North West Region for his consistent presence at PCC activities, reaffirming the Church’s commitment to peace, order, and prayerful support for the administration.
“We thank God that today is not like yesterday, and we pray that tomorrow will be even better,” he said, noting gradual improvements in the region’s security situation.
Speaking earlier, the Chairlady of Mezam Presbytery, Nana Anastasia, described the event as divinely timed and significant for the presbytery and the region. She congratulated PC Bamenda Station for hosting the Moderator’s Representative, describing the congregation as “privileged” and challenged it to live up to its role as a model congregation.
“A congregation that hosts the Moderator’s Representative should be an example to other Christians to emulate,” she stated.
On behalf of the Christians of PC Bamenda Station, the Chairlady of the congregation, Asana Felicia, warmly welcomed the PCC hierarchy, government officials, and guests. She recalled that the station had previously hosted a Moderator’s Representative and expressed gratitude to the Synod for once again entrusting the congregation with such responsibility.
She paid tribute to former pastors, particularly Rev. Chebe Eric, whose leadership contributed to the growth and development of the congregation, and highlighted ongoing projects, including the construction of a multi-purpose hall and the expansion of Presbyterian educational institutions within the station.
“Since Rev. Ngongan Paul Anyam was sent to us, the congregation has witnessed spiritual, financial, numerical, and social growth,” she noted.
In his acceptance speech, Rev. Ngongan Paul Anyam expressed deep gratitude to the Moderator, the PCC hierarchy, and the entire Christian community for the confidence reposed in him. Describing the occasion as a milestone in his 25-year ministerial journey, he said the appointment was a testimony of God’s grace.
“It did not occur to me in the widest of my dreams that someday I would be instituted as the Moderator’s Representative,” he said. “I am a product of grace.”
He pledged, in the name of Jesus Christ, not to let down the Moderator, the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, or the gospel of Christ. He also thanked his family, predecessors, organizing committees, and all supporters who contributed to the success of the ceremony.
Rev. Ngongan Paul Anyam was born on June 5, 1968, in Menka village, Santa Subdivision. An ordained minister of the PCC, he holds academic qualifications in English Modern Letters and Theology, and has served the Church in various capacities, including Parish Pastor, Presbyterian Treasurer, and Presbyterian Secretary across several presbyteries. He is married to Nyango Jenet Fri, and their union is blessed with children.
The institution and induction ceremony at PC Bamenda Station marked a significant chapter in the life of the PCC in the North West Region, reaffirming the Church’s mission of spiritual leadership, peacebuilding, and service to both God and society.
