The Humble Friends Humanitarian Organization (HUMFRIEH) has marked World Health Day 2026 with a series of community-driven health initiatives aimed at improving access to essential medical services and promoting public health awareness.
Operating from its headquarters in Tiko, with branches in Buea and Kumba, HUMFRIEH joined partners within the Health Cluster to deliver free health screenings and referrals to local residents.
Leading the initiative was Douala Séraphine Caroline, the organization’s coordinator, who reaffirmed HUMFRIEH’s commitment to health equity and community well-being. “Health is a right, not a privilege,” she said, underscoring the organization’s focus on inclusive, science-driven solutions.
Targeting Priority Health Concerns
As part of the campaign, healthcare teams provided free testing and consultations for a range of conditions, including HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis, syphilis, hepatitis B, malaria, and diabetes. The outreach aimed to encourage early detection while connecting individuals to appropriate care through referral systems.
The initiative reflects a growing emphasis on preventive healthcare in underserved communities, where access to routine medical services can be limited.
Promoting the One Health Approach
HUMFRIEH’s activities were guided by the One Health framework, which highlights the connection between human health, environmental conditions, and broader social factors. By integrating this approach, the organization seeks to address health challenges in a more comprehensive and sustainable way.
Expanding Impact Beyond Health
In addition to medical outreach, HUMFRIEH continues to engage in programs addressing gender-based violence, capacity building, and drug abuse prevention. These efforts aim to tackle underlying issues that contribute to poor health outcomes, particularly among vulnerable populations.
As World Health Day draws global attention to health equity, HUMFRIEH’s work on the ground illustrates the impact of localized action backed by scientific collaboration. The organization is calling on stakeholders and communities alike to support initiatives that expand access to care and strengthen public health systems.
With its ongoing campaigns, HUMFRIEH remains committed to building healthier communities one intervention at a time.
