Authorities at the Bamenda II Council have publicly recognized a local contractor for what they describe as exceptional professionalism and commitment to public service delivery.
The acknowledgement came during the 2025 Administrative and Stores Accounts Session held at the Bamenda II Council Hall, where the mayor, Peter Chenwi, praised Edison Fru Ndi, Chief Executive Officer of Dreamland Connect, for consistently delivering projects on time, often before receiving payment.
Peter Chenwi, Singling Out and Recognizing Edison Fru Ndi for his Dedication.Addressing councillors, Mayor Chenwi highlighted what he called a rare level of integrity in the execution of public contracts being executed by Edison Fru Ndi, who also doubles as the Regional Delegate of Chambers of Commerce for the Northwest region.
“He executes his contracts on time and even completes them before coming in for payment,” the mayor said. “We need to encourage those who sacrifice for the state. Mr. Edison Fru Ndi is exceptional."
According to the council, Edison Fru Ndi has carried out numerous development projects within the municipality, including the construction of roads, installation of boreholes, and deployment of solar-powered street lighting. His work, Mayor Peter Chenwi says, extends beyond Bamenda II to other parts of the metropolis.
Councillors During Session. The mayor noted that the recognition was intended not only to honor Edison Fru Ndi but also to set a standard for other contractors working with public institutions. “We cannot count the number of boreholes and roads he has executed in the municipality on time and been paid later,” he said, adding that the council is keen to continue its collaboration with Dreamland Connect on future projects.
The commendation comes at a time when the council is facing challenges with some contractors. Mayor Chenwi cited the termination of a low-cost housing project in Ntamulung New Layout II, attributing the decision to contractors who failed to meet their obligations despite initial commitments. The matter, he said, is now before the courts.
In contrast, Edison Fru Ndi was described as “one of the very few contractors” who delivers projects ahead of deadlines and patiently awaits payment from the council. The council official says such examples are critical in promoting accountability and efficiency in local governance, particularly as municipalities continue to grapple with limited resources and growing infrastructure needs.
