Cameroon is mourning the death of Senate Vice President Nfor Tabe Tando, a prominent political figure from the South West region, whose passing has been confirmed by multiple sources in Manyu Division, his area of origin.

Senator Tando was widely regarded as one of the most influential voices from the South West, playing a key role in shaping political discourse. 

He was particularly noted for his consistent calls for a peaceful and inclusive resolution to the Anglophone crisis, advocating dialogue and national unity.

Beyond politics, he was a respected traditional authority. As the ruler of Bachou-Ntai since 1977, he earned the title “The Wise King," reflecting his reputation for measured leadership and counsel within his community.

Born on 29 October 1950, Nfor Tabe Tando trained as a lawyer and founded Equity Chambers in Douala, building a career that spanned law, business, and public service. He was also the owner of Euroil, further cementing his presence in the country’s economic landscape.

He previously served as president of the South West Chiefs Conference, where he worked to strengthen the role of traditional institutions in governance and community development.

His death marks the loss of a figure who bridged traditional authority and modern politics at a time of significant national challenges.
