Russia has opened accreditation for international journalists and digital content creators to cover the International Festival of Youth 2026, an event expected to attract thousands of young participants from around the world.
The festival will take place in the city of Yekaterinburg from September 11 to 17, 2026, as part of the country’s national “Youth and Children” project.
Organizers said applications for media accreditation would remain open until July 17, 2026, through the International Platform of Opportunities operated by the World Youth Festival Directorate.
Officials expect at least 500 media representatives from different countries to attend the event, which is being positioned as one of Russia’s major international youth forums.
Dmitry Ivanov, Director General of the World Youth Festival Directorate, said a dedicated international media centre would be established at the festival venue to support reporters and broadcasters covering the gathering.
The facility will include press conference halls, interview studios, media workspaces, and rest areas, according to organizers. Journalists will also receive transport services within the city and catering during the event. “We see strong interest in the International Festival of Youth from both Russian and international media representatives and content creators,” Mr. Ivanov said in a statement released by organizers.
He added that accredited journalists would have access to key events and opportunities to interact directly with participants and speakers from multiple countries.
The festival is expected to bring together around 10,000 young leaders, including 5,000 participants from Russia and 5,000 from abroad.
Organizers say delegates will include young professionals and activists working in areas such as science, education, entrepreneurship, sport, media, information technology and public administration.
The program will also involve 1,000 teenagers aged between 14 and 17, while 2,000 volunteers are expected to assist with logistics and operations.
The event will be held under the slogan “Follow Your Dream." Together with Russia.”
The International Festival of Youth follows the World Youth Festival 2024, which Russian authorities said attracted 20,000 participants from 190 countries.
Since then, Russia has continued organizing annual international youth events aimed at expanding global youth cooperation. In 2025, the World Youth Festival Assembly 2025 brought together 2,000 young people from 120 countries.
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the decree authorizing the 2026 festival in December last year.
The event is being organized by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, also known as Rosmolodezh, together with the Government of the Sverdlovsk Region. The World Youth Festival Directorate will oversee operations for the event.
