Cameroonian youth mentor and entrepreneur Bongkem Eric Babah has officially launched his first book, Shifting Blames to Self, with a strong message encouraging young people to embrace personal responsibility and self-development.

The launch event took place in Buea in the South West Region on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Praise Baptist Church and attracted a diverse audience including youths, church members, entrepreneurs, students, professionals and community leaders.

The 13-page book contains 13 chapters centred on themes such as mindset transformation, emotional resilience, discipline, mentorship, entrepreneurship and personal growth. According to the author, the publication is intended to challenge what he describes as the “culture of blame” that prevents many people from taking control of their lives.

Speaking to Laarry Times, the passionate youth empowerment coach said the inspiration behind the book came from his personal background and experiences growing up in hardship. “I was born and raised by a poor mother, and I experienced firsthand the struggles and limitations many young people face today,” he said.
“But instead of blaming my family, society or the government, I made a personal decision that poverty would not define my future.”

He said the book encourages readers to shift their focus away from excuses and instead develop self-awareness, discipline and resilience. “It is a wake-up call for people who feel discouraged, limited or forgotten,” he added.
