Senior Warrant Officer Taku Paul, Chief of Centre at the Army Rescue Unit in Bamenda, has received the Service to Humanity Award and Champion in Rescue Missions and Flood Operations distinction at the Nation Builders Awards.
Taku Paul and Other Laureates During Award Event.The award was presented on Saturday, June 6, 2026, in Upstation, Bamenda, by the Cameroon Climate Journalism Network (CCJN) during its annual recognition ceremony honouring individuals whose contributions have positively impacted society through service, leadership, and community development.
Taku Paul Addressing Invited Guests.Speaking after receiving the award, Taku Paul, the Army Rescue Unit Bamenda Chief of Centre, expressed gratitude for the recognition, saying he had not realized that his efforts in the North-West Region, particularly in Bamenda, were being acknowledged.
“I am very happy and encouraged. This recognition motivates me to work even harder and continue serving the population whenever necessary,” he said.
The Senior Warrant Officer attributed the success of the Army Rescue Unit to its close relationship with local communities, stressing that humanitarian service requires trust and collaboration between rescue teams and the public.
Taku Paul, Captured Among Other LaureatesHe urged residents to contact emergency responders immediately whenever incidents occur, rather than attempting to handle emergencies on their own.
The Army Rescue Unit, he said, has strengthened its capacity with new rescue equipment, vehicles, water tankers, and an ambulance to better serve communities across the North-West Region.
Cross Section of High Table Dignitaries.Taku Paul also reassured residents that the unit remains available to respond to emergencies, including accidents, floods, medical evacuations, and assistance for pregnant women requiring urgent transportation to health facilities.
CCJN promoter Tamukong Roland, who doubles as the Publisher of World Echoes Newspaper, described Taku Paul as a dedicated humanitarian whose leadership has distinguished him in rescue missions and flood response operations across Cameroon.
