Hon. Agho Oliver Bamenju, Member of Parliament for Bafut/Tubah Constituency.

The Member of Parliament for the Bafut/Tubah Constituency, Hon. Agho Oliver Bamenju, has donated a brand-new three-in-one printer, scanner, and photocopier to the Basic Education Inspectorate in Bafut. The move aimed at improving administrative efficiency and easing documentation challenges faced by education officials.

The donation was presented on Saturday, June 6, 2026, in Bamenda by the MP's representative, Brenda Ichu, on behalf of the lawmaker.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Brenda Ichu said the equipment would significantly improve office operations by enabling staff to print, scan, and photocopy documents within the office premises. "This is to assist the government-owned structure in printing all its documents with a lot of ease," she said.

"It will help remove the burden of movement each time staff need to print or photocopy important documents and allow them to carry out documentation work within the confines of the office."

The gesture was warmly received by education officials, who described the lack of photocopying facilities as a major obstacle to their work.
Chikelem Boniface, Inspector of Basic Education for Bafut.

The Inspector of Basic Education for Bafut, Chikelem Boniface, said the donation came at a crucial moment as education stakeholders gathered to assess activities from the current academic year and prepare for the next.

"In the office, we did not have a photocopier, and that was really a problematic area for us because documents could not be photocopied on time," he explained. "We want to thank the MP for Bafut/Tubah Constituency, Hon. Agho Oliver, who has come to our rescue."

The Inspector of Basic Education in Bafut noted that the inspectorate had approached the MP with their concerns and expressed appreciation for what he described as a swift and meaningful response.

Beyond the equipment donation, the education official highlighted broader challenges facing the subdivision. He pointed to difficulties surrounding examination centres, staffing shortages, and the impact of insecurity on the functioning of government schools in parts of Bafut.

According to him, some teachers have sought transfers due to the prevailing conditions, while others have had to operate in alternative learning spaces. Despite these difficulties, he called on teachers to remain resilient and adaptable as education authorities continue efforts to ensure learning continues uninterrupted.

"We intend to redeploy teachers to schools that are functioning so that they can support those already carrying the workload," he said.
Ndonwi Bridget, President of Headteachers in Bafut.

The President of Headteachers in the Bafut Subdivision, Ndonwi Bridget, also welcomed the donation, describing it as a long-awaited intervention that would greatly benefit schools and education personnel. "We are so, so happy because we have been crying and lobbying for this gift," she said. "This gift will go a long way in assisting our documentation in the subdivision."

She explained that school administrators regularly handle numerous official documents, including attendance records, beginning-of-year reports, effective service documents, and assumptions of duty forms.

The new equipment, she said, would reduce the financial burden on headteachers who often use personal funds to support school administration. "This gift will enable us to photocopy these documents and provide them free of charge, which will reduce costs. We are indeed very happy for this wonderful gift," she added.

The Headteachers' Representative for Bafut also acknowledged the transportation and traffic challenges faced by teachers travelling to their schools but praised educators for their commitment to ensuring teaching and learning continue despite the circumstances.
