BETTERMAN Co. Limited has been recognized as the Best Engineering and Construction Development Company of the Year. They received the prestigious 2025 Cameroon Media Award of Excellence during activities marking the 54th United Nations Environment Day in Bamenda.
The award, presented by the Cameroon Climate Journalism Network (CCJN), also carried the distinction of the Nation Builders Award, acknowledging the company's contribution to infrastructure development and sustainable nation-building across Cameroon.
The ceremony took place on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the Conference Hall of the North West Regional Delegation of Secondary Education in Bamenda. The event brought together journalists, environmental advocates, public officials, and development stakeholders committed to promoting climate action and sustainable development.
The award was presented under the leadership of Tamukong Roland Angong, Chief Executive Officer of World Echoes Media Group, National Coordinator of the Cameroon Climate Journalism Network (CCJN), pioneer cohort member of the Open Climate Journalism Network (OCJN), Net Zero Specialist on Greenhouse Gas Emissions under the Earth Journalism Network (EJN), and member of the third cohort of the 10 Billion Strong Leadership Academy.
According to the award citation, BETTERMAN Co. Limited was selected for its outstanding achievements in engineering, construction, and infrastructure development, as well as its contribution to community growth and national progress.
Receiving the award, the Chief Executive Officer of BETTERMAN Co. Limited, Ndefru Linus, expressed gratitude for the recognition and paid tribute to the company's workforce and technical experts. "I don't take the glory. I give praise to my team," he said.
"I have a very good technical staff who are very committed. I feel moved and impressed because our work is being recognized, even by people we do not know. We have simply been doing our job and making sure that we follow the norms and ethics of building construction."
Ndefru Linus introduced BETTERMAN Co. Limited as a construction company established in 1992 with its headquarters in Yaoundé. He explained that despite operating across the country, the company has made a deliberate effort to invest significantly in the North West Region. "Being the son of the soil, I thought we should do most of our investments in Bamenda," he said.
The company is currently involved in several major projects, including the construction of the North West Regional Assembly Lodge, a ten-story building, the administrative block of the Higher Teacher Training College in Bambili, and the national secretariat building for Presbyterian Church women. BETTERMAN Co. Limited is also overseeing the construction of the Tinkak District Hospital.
Over the years, the company has completed numerous public infrastructure projects, including the Bamenda II Council building, while continuing to expand its portfolio nationwide.
The BETTERMAN Co. Limited CEO highlighted the company's commitment to professionalism and technical excellence, noting that its workforce includes engineers, architects, surveyors, senior technicians, and other specialists.
"I was first trained in a technical school. I am a builder by profession, and I work with a lot of partners who are engineers, architects, and senior technicians. We have expertise in all the specialties required for quality construction," he explained.
The award comes at a time when Cameroon is seeking stronger partnerships between the private sector and public institutions to improve infrastructure while advancing sustainable development objectives. Organizers noted that recognizing companies making tangible contributions to development aligns with the spirit of United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 13. Climate Action, which encourages resilient and sustainable infrastructure development.
For BETTERMAN Co. Limited, the honour serves not only as recognition of past achievements but also as motivation for future performance. "This award comes as a booster to make us work harder and do more efficient work than ever," Ndefru Linus said.
