Businessman and philanthropist Edison Fru Ndi, Chief Executive Officer of Dreamland Connect and North West Regional Delegate of Chamber of Commerce, has donated office equipment worth 3.5 million FCFA to restore the office of the General Supervisor at Bamenda Regional Hospital following a devastating fire that destroyed much of the hospital's administrative block.

The donation enabled the immediate establishment of a fully equipped temporary office, allowing one of the hospital's key administrative departments to resume operations as authorities prepare to reconstruct the damaged facilities.

The fire, which swept through the administrative block days earlier, destroyed offices, equipment, and vital records. Among the affected facilities were the Central Pharmacy, Conference Hall, Statistics Unit, Universal Health Coverage Unit, Medical Adviser's Office, General Supervisor's Office, Social Action Service, ICT and Telemedicine Unit, library, hospital canteen, and chaplaincy.

Hospital management said the loss significantly disrupted administrative services at one of the North West Region's principal referral hospitals, with the General Supervisor forced to operate from temporary spaces.

Responding to the emergency, Edison Fru Ndi donated a complete office package, including an executive desk and chair, visitor chairs, storage cupboards, a Samsung 50-inch Smart TV, a coffee table, an HP colour printer, a refrigerator, an air conditioner, office carpet, a hot water boiler, and other essential items needed to restore the office to full functionality.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, he said the gesture reflected a shared responsibility to protect public institutions. "This hospital belongs to all of us. It is our responsibility as elites to take action. What we do here is ultimately for ourselves and for the community we serve," he said.

The Director of the Regional Hospital Bamenda, Dr. Denis Nsame, thanked the Dreamland Connect CEO for what he described as a timely intervention, noting that the General Supervisor oversees the hospital's paramedical staff, supervises students on clinical placement, and coordinates several critical services.

General Supervisor Ngunjuah Franklen said the donation had enabled him to resume his duties after losing his office in the fire. "It was difficult after the incident. I had nowhere to receive students or carry out my daily responsibilities. This support has restored both the office and our ability to work effectively," he said.

Edison Fru Ndi's intervention comes as fundraising efforts continue across the North West Region to support the hospital's recovery. A public appeal launched by former minister Felix Mbayu has attracted donations from public officials, business leaders, civil society organizations and members of the public, with more than 40 million FCFA reportedly mobilized within days.

The Minister of Public Health has also pledged government support for the reconstruction of the damaged administrative block after technical assessments of the fire.
