A delegation representing Cameroon's Prime Minister, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute, has praised veteran lawyer and human rights advocate, Sir Dr. Barr. Nico Halle as a nation builder. This was during a visit to his award gallery in Douala in the Littoral Region.

The delegation, led by His Royal Highness Agbor Ambang, visited the Nico Halle Award Gallery on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

Opened in 2025, the gallery houses 210 local, national, and international awards, medals, and trophies, recognizing Nico Halle's contributions to law, human rights, civil society and public service.

Speaking on behalf of the Prime Minister, Chief Agbor Ambang described Sir. Dr. Barr. Nico Halle as a leading defender of republican values, human rights, public liberties and national unity.

He said the veteran lawyer had consistently championed a peaceful and united Cameroon, adding that his contribution to nation-building had earned him recognition both at home and abroad.

"We are here to celebrate his contributions to the nation and to encourage Cameroonians to emulate his example," Agbor Ambang said.

In his response, Sir. Dr. Barr. Nico Halle thanked the Prime Minister for sending what he described as a "powerful delegation", saying the visit was a recognition not only of his work but also of the values the award gallery represents.

The veteran lawyer used the occasion to renew his call for what he described as the "rule of love", arguing that genuine peace can only exist where there is justice, accountability, transparency, integrity and respect for human dignity.

Reflecting on the thinkers who shaped his philosophy, the international legal colossus and no-nonsense anti-hatespeech and corruption advocate cited Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Voltaire as figures who inspired his lifelong commitment to justice, democracy and the rule of law. In contrast, he warned against glorifying leaders like Hitler whose legacies he said were built on war, saying history had shown the devastating consequences of conflict.

Turning to governance, Sir. Dr. Barr. Nico Halle criticized corruption, electoral malpractice and poor leadership, arguing that bribery, vote-rigging and the manipulation of elections undermine democracy by placing unqualified leaders in positions of power.

He also condemned what he described as the misuse of "motions of support" to conceal corruption, saying public declarations of loyalty should never be used to distract from embezzlement, bribery or abuse of office.

The refined international peace crusader linked unemployment, poverty and underdevelopment to corruption and weak governance, urging Africans to reject tribalism, nepotism, xenophobia, hate speech and other practices that divide society.

The senior advocate also questioned the effectiveness of regional and international institutions in resolving conflicts, saying organizations established to maintain peace should do more to address violence in Cameroon and other parts of Africa and the wider world.

He urged citizens to embrace reading and lifelong learning, arguing that informed societies are better equipped to strengthen democracy, promote development and build peaceful nations.

He didn't forget to thank the Prime Minister, the visiting delegation and all those who attended the event, while warning that hypocrisy, praise-singing and falsehood remained among the greatest obstacles to good governance and national progress.

The visit ended with the delegation reaffirming its appreciation for Nico Halle's decades of service and encouraging Cameroonians to uphold the principles of patriotism, justice, peace and national unity that have defined his public life.
