The Army Rescue Unit in Bamenda has completed the recovery and release of the body of Asah Kenedy, the 31-year-old man whose suspected suicide was reported earlier by Laarry Times.
The latest development comes a few hours after the incident occurred behind the family's residence below the GBHS Nitop Four neighbourhood in Bamenda II Subdivision, Mezam Division, in the North West Region.
Under the command of Senior Warrant Officer Taku Paul, Chief of Centre, the Army Rescue Unit recovered the body from the pear tree and transported it to the Bamenda Regional Hospital mortuary.
After the necessary procedures were completed, the body was officially handed over to the bereaved family.
Family members later buried Kenedy at the cemetery at End of Tar Rendezvous.
As reported earlier by Laarry Times, Kenedy, a native of Mbengwi in Momo Division, was found dead on the evening of Wednesday, August 5, 2026. His family said they remain devastated and are still searching for answers over what may have led to his death.
Speaking to Laarry Times before the burial, Kenedy's father said the family was overwhelmed by grief after the tragic discovery. According to relatives, Kenedy had struggled with drug addiction for several years, a challenge that had deeply affected both his family and members of the community.
His father also disclosed that on July 30, 2026, Kenedy had been taken to the Gendarmerie Legion Headquarters at Up Station, Bamenda, after being accused of stealing a mobile phone. He was later released and returned home.
Family members said that in the days before his death, several of his Father's friends visited him and encouraged him to abandon drug use and rebuild his life, hoping he would embrace a fresh start.
Authorities are expected to continue looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
