Shey Jones Yembe’s MAG SARL Delivers Ndu–Nkambe Road Section

Shey Jones Yembe, Former Minister and CEO of MAG SARL

The Ministry of Public Works has provisionally received the 31-kilometre Ndu–Nkambe road section constructed by MAG SARL, marking a major step in the implementation of the Kumbo–Ndu–Nkambe–Misaje Ring Road project in the North West Region.

The provisional reception took place on October 8, 2026, marking a key stage in the delivery of National Road No. 11, a major route expected to improve connectivity between communities and support economic activities in the region.

Co-financed by the Government of Cameroon and the African Development Bank, the project is intended to ease the movement of people and goods, improve access to essential services and strengthen trade links with neighbouring Nigeria.

Led by former minister Shey Jones Yembe, a distinguished, down-to-earth, and veritable Donga Mantung elite, and chief executive officer, MAG SARL executed the 31-kilometre stretch despite security challenges in the project area, bringing the works to the provisional reception stage.

Beyond road construction, the project employed residents. The company engaged 235 permanent workers, including women, with 187 recruited from communities along the project area. The project also mobilized about 400 temporary workers at different stages, including through subcontractors.

The workforce comprised engineers, machine operators, drivers, mechanics, welders, construction workers, administrative personnel and road safety staff. Women also contributed to site administration, cleaning, attendance recording and traffic management.

For residents of Ndu, Nkambe and surrounding communities, the improved road is expected to make travel easier and reduce difficulties in transporting farm produce and other goods to markets. Better road access could also facilitate movement to schools, health facilities and other essential services.

The completed section forms part of the wider Ring Road project, which is expected to improve transport links across the North West Region and support economic exchanges with Nigeria.

Although provisional reception marks an important milestone, it does not necessarily conclude all contractual obligations. Further inspections and other requirements may still be necessary before final acceptance of the works.

The reception of the Ndu–Nkambe stretch therefore marks progress in the implementation of the wider road project, with communities awaiting the full benefits of improved transport infrastructure.
